FAQ'S
What’s Included
Each Lake Placid pontoon boat rental includes the boat, a full tank of gas, U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets, and all required safety equipment for your time on the water. If you need to refuel during your outing, simply radio us and return to the dock, and we’ll refill your tank at the current market rate for fuel. In most cases, guests do not use an entire tank of gas during their rental period.
What is the process?
After booking your Lake Placid boat rental, you’ll receive a confirmation email with our address and parking details, along with two emails from our insurance provider. The first includes optional boater safety videos to brush up on your skills before your rental. The second contains a registration link to list all guests and designated drivers. Completing this in advance will streamline your check-in process.
Please arrive 20–30 minutes before your scheduled rental time. Check in at our kiosk, and we'll fit life jackets for any children 12 and under. Once ready, a staff member will escort you to your pontoon boat and provide a full safety and navigation briefing before you head out on the water.
Boaters License & Requirements
- No boating safety certificate is required to rent from us. However, we strongly encourage all guests to complete a free online boater safety course at BoatUS.org before their Lake Placid boat rental, especially since many states now require certification.
- The boat operator must be 21 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license. The person signing the lease is FULLY responsible for driving the boat, all passengers, and any damage done to the boat.
- Regardless of experience, every renter will receive a comprehensive operational, safety, and navigation briefing before departing the dock.
Safety And Navigation
Every Lake Placid boat rental includes a thorough safety and navigation briefing so you feel comfortable operating the boat and understand Lake Placid’s guidelines before heading out on the water.
Insurance
Upon booking your pontoon boat rental, we offer affordable insurance options for added peace of mind. You can choose to add:
- Liability insurance, which protects you in the event of injury or damage to someone else or their property
- Hull coverage, which covers damage to the rental boat itself
- If you opt not to purchase the low-cost added insurance, you will be responsible for any damages to the boat. This includes issues like a damaged propeller, torn upholstery, or other repairs needed after your rental. We Place a $500 hold on your credit card which is released the same day providing no damages or excessive cleaning is needed.
Types Of Boats We Rent
Boat Lake Placid offers Bennington pontoon boat rentals on Lake Placid, New York. Our fleet includes 20-foot and 22-foot models. The 20-foot pontoons can accommodate up to 10 people, and the 22-foot models can accommodate up to 12 people, or the equivalent number based on the boat’s maximum weight capacity as listed onboard. They are perfect for groups, families, and relaxed days on Lake Placid.
No Wake Zones and other boaters
It’s very important to follow all waterway rules. A lake map will be provided, clearly marking designated no-wake zones, including Paradox Bay, Sunset Strait, and any area within 100 feet of the shoreline.
“No wake” means you must operate the boat at a slow enough speed that it produces no wave or wake behind it.
Drivers must use extra caution and always yield to smaller, man-powered watercraft such as kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. Always give plenty of space to other boats, especially those involved in watersports. Never drive up behind a boat that is towing someone on a tube, water skis, or other equipment — there are people in the water and safety is the top priority.
Cancellation Policy & Rescheduling
- A non-refundable $100 deposit is required at the time of booking your Lake Placid boat rental. This deposit is applied to your rental on the day of your outing.
- We offer a 48-hour cancellation window, giving you the flexibility to monitor the weather and adjust your plans. Cancellations or changes made within 48 hours of your reservation will result in a 50% charge of the scheduled rental, as we have likely turned away other potential renters for that time slot.
- In the event of severe weather (such as heavy rain or thunderstorms), our team will assess conditions and determine if a cancellation is necessary. If we cancel due to weather and cannot reschedule, you’ll receive a full refund. If your outing is cut short due to sudden weather, a partial refund will be issued for the unused portion of your reservation.
Food And Drink
Yes, you’re welcome to bring food and beverages on board. We simply ask that you avoid items that can stain, spill easily, or create excessive mess, especially things that can blow around while underway. Our boats are clean and well-maintained for your enjoyment, and we ask that you help us keep them that way for the next guest. An additional cleaning fee may be charged if the boat is returned excessively dirty.
Cleanliness & Garbage
We ask that all renters remove any personal items and dispose of trash at the end of their rental. Garbage bins are available at the dock. While we clean each boat daily, helping us keep the boats clean ensures a great experience for the next guest. Please make sure no garbage ends up in the lake, as we strive to protect the beauty of the area and its waterways.
sunscreen and other aerosols
We kindly ask that aerosol sprays not be used on the boats, as the chemicals can damage the upholstery over time. We recommend using traditional cream-based sunscreen instead. If you prefer aerosol products, please apply them before boarding or spray them into your hand and rub onto your skin. This helps us keep our boats clean and in top condition for all guests.
Dogs On Board
Yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome on Boat Lake Placid rentals. We allow 1 to 2 dogs per rental with a $35 total pet fee. Dogs are not permitted on the seats, and renters are responsible for any pet-related damage, excessive cleaning, or mess.
